Sparkly Christmas Balls (ahem...)
These little woolly-gems of festive fabulousness are super quick to make and look great either strung together in a chain looped on a dresser or fireplace, or hung on your tree...Not bad in a cocktail glass either.
You will need:
Scraps of wool in festive colours
Smidge of wadding/toy stuffing/cotton wool
(This is the same as the pumpkin base...)
Chain 7-10, turn and work alternate rows of single crochet and double crochet until your work measures about 3". Fasten off and leave a good length tail. Using the tail, sew first through the side, pulling together as a circle, then sew up the two ends. You will now have a little pouch to put a little pinch of stuffing into. Once stuffed, sew up the top (as with the bottom) then pass the yarn tail down and up to 'squish' the top and bottom together a bit and give it some shape. Trim ends.
Cut a length of thread, and add groups of beads of varying length coming out from the middle (like an apple I guess). Work all the way around the top, catching the ends down each side. Before fastening and trimming, make a loop from the centre and secure.
